Tonight, after reading a couple stories from her bible and saying our prayers, Bella said "Luh lo" (I love you) and gave me a kiss. I melted. Is there anything sweeter than hearing your child tell you that they love you? And then show you with a kiss?
The time we spend together each night before she goes to bed is my favorite time of the day. It's the only time of the day that she enjoys longer stories and will cuddle in my lap long enough to hear them. We usually read a short story book and then a couple stories from her children's bible. She loves the bible stories and we have already covered all of the Old Testament and are partway through the New Testament. After we read our stories, I always turn out the light and then we say our prayers. First I pray with Bella, in her vocabulary, "Dear Jesus, thank you. I love you. Goodnight." Then I pray over her. It's such an awesome moment, each day, to hold my child in my arms and pray blessings over her. It's also very humbling and I'm always asking God to make me a better mom and to give me more wisdom, patience, kindness, and understanding.
These moments I will treasure always.

I concur, the best time is right before their bedtime.
D'Ale brings about 10 books over to the bed, climbs up and opens either a truck book, a train book, the little brother book or the puppy/kitten book. We then read together and lately, Nico leans over and watches Sandro.
The BEST time of the night. All four of us in bed together. I love living, love the life we have, love my family, love my friends.
