.... just TOO MUCH to pay for just two green bell peppers! I am in shock over the incredible raise in grocery prices! Every week the prices climb even higher, and it's motivating me to start planning. I've had enough of this nonsense. I'll be spending this winter planning out a garden to plant next spring. I don't have the foggiest clue about gardening, so I don't even know where to begin. I need to learn about location (sunlight needs, soil, etc), seasonal plantings, and what to do with the extras (canning and freezing). Oh, I'm sure I have no idea what I'm getting into, but I'm a determined woman now!
The fresher produce and lack of pesticides will, I hope, be enough to keep me at it even if grocery store prices eventually fall back down.
Anyone have any tips for me?

How great is that! A garden is one of those things we have always said we will do...but never have! Good luck!!
No tips but I am right there with you. I have been researching all summer and finally bought a few herbs, but plan to do my big first time planting/gardening experience this spring. Maybe we can help each other out.
Check out The Bodie Bunch on the side bar of my blog. This woman gives me all kinds of inspiration and makes me want to start gardening tomorrow. I have also saved some good websites that I have found and will be adding them to my blog soon - so maybe those will help you also. Good Luck.
