The *joys* of living in Antigua

**** I don't always have a good attitude and this post is proof! ****

*Joy* number one:

Allergies. There's something in the new house that I'm apparently highly allergic to and I am now, after living here two weeks, officially miserable. I'm talking about itchy eyes, a nose that is alternately runny and then stuffy, sneezy, sneezy, SNEEZY, and now yucky chest goo that makes me feel like I need to cough almost constantly. BLAH! I don't feel good. Yes, I'm taking benadryl and/or claritin. Yes, I'll probably need to find something else. But what I really want is to believe that this is only temporary and someday sorta soon I'm going to go home and get away from all of this.

*Joy* number two

Toddlerhood. Ok, don't beat me up for saying this and please please take into account the above paragragh. Bella is driving me up the wall. She has always been very sensitive to change and it always shows up in her sleep habits. And we moved to a new house two weeks ago. Yep, she's still adjusting and it is making for some very long nights for me. And amazingly, she wakes up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed the next morning and I'm struggling to keep up. Add that to the natural testing boundaries that she is doing right now and you end up with a post like this! How many times does a child have to hear "don't touch it" before they won't actually touch it??????? BLAH again!

*Joy* number three

Internet. It comes and goes, even with expensive DSL. And when you are thousands of miles away from everyone who knows and loves you, it is REALLY frustrating when you can't be in contact with them because of the stupid internet! Especially when you are sick and cranky and just want to whine to your mommy!

***********************************************************************************

Ok, I feel a little better just getting all of that out. I'm going to go take a shower and see if I can cheer up a bit. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal tomorrow!
I leave you with a fourth *joy* - the bells from a church near our house. We hear this SEVERAL times a day and I love this sound if I'm in a good mood. When I'm cranky, not so much.

It's ok - I was able to hear the whining even with the internet coming and going! (just kidding) - we are all hoping and praying that soon you will be able to start getting ready to come back to the good old USA where you will have a new and different set of "joys" except of course the toddlerhood one - that will be around for a couple more years. And to answer your question - there is no number large enough to tell how many times you can tell her don't touch........especially since once she learns that about one object she will just move on to another one!

Hi Sharon!
Wow, new house! where is it?
Regarding the Allergies...
Buy some cheap hydrogen peroxide
and pour it in a spray bottle.
Spray down the walls, wood trim, window screens, curtains, furniture, patio stuff, even the plants. They will love it!

It will help to get rid of molds and mildews plus sterilize everything.

From your symptoms it sounds like molds and mildews in the rainy season. Also, if you have a dryer, put all your pillows in the dryer and run them for 20 minutes on high after spraying them with hydrogen peroxide!

I am constantly praying, thinking and watching you and your families blog!

Hope you feel better.
Love Jennifer and Sophia Sieber

It is nice to hear you whine a little bit. I was beginning to think you were superwoman!
When you figure out how many time you have to say "don't touch" let me know because it seems that once Jay starts to listen usually Jesse has figured out how to do exactly what it was that Jay was just learning not to do! I feel your pain sister! The bells really don't have a very soothing sound do they?

Also, I have been known to empty a saline nose sprayer and wash it and place a mixture of 1 part hydrogen peroxide 2 parts filtered or distilled water in the bottle.
Shake it up and spray it into each nostril 2x's per day. Start with 1 spray and move up to 3 sprays.

It oxygenates the nasal passages, kills the gooies and fights the allergies. After doing that for a while, I rarely need allergy medicine.

It will sting a bit the first few times. And if it starts to feel too dried out, take a break.
Just a thought and a personal experiment of mine.

Lo ciento mi amiga. We hope you get better. Alessandro was listening to the bells of the church and pointing. I doubt he remembers them. But talk about Casa en Familia revisited! Yikes. How close are they?

Please kick the allergies. Our best to you three (and Greg is four). We miss you and cannot wait (literally) until you move back to the States.

Talk with you soon.
